If you are trying to sell your home you will find that one of the number one steps to having your home sell successfully is to have it staged. There are many ways that this can be accomplished but there is only one-way to set the simple foundation of it. When people think of staging they automatically see dollar signs and a professional stager being hired. The good news is that you can stage your own home and not spend a dime. Here are several different things you can do to prepare your home to sell and sell quickly.

Clean The Home

When speaking to a prospective homebuyer the number one thing they usually look for in a home is how clean it is. This is why you should spend plenty of time cleaning the house. By cleaning you will show that your home has been cared for. You should start by cleaning all of the windows both inside and outside. Then you can move on to dusting all of the door frames, light fixtures, ceiling fans and even the blinds on windows. There should not be a speck of dust or dirt to be found anywhere in the home. Try not to miss anything because a potential buyer will look at everything.

Remove Personal Effects In The House

When you are cleaning up your home you should also pack up most of if not all of your personal photos and any family keepsakes that you have laying around throughout the home. If you have a good family photo you can leave that out to market the home towards families but other photos should be put away. The perfect idea is to store them outside of the home. Many times these ideas will draw the buyer’s attention away from your home and all they will be able to see is your family.  You are not selling your family you are selling the home.  The home should be the center of attention.

Keep Packing

Yes it is possible that you can live without half of the items you own even if it is only for a short time.  Many times people who have lived in their home for several years have collected things that are not always necessary.  One of the most important things to do when staging your home is to remove the clutter.  This includes a large amount of furniture.  You cannot showcase a room if it is packed solid with stuff.  It might be possible that you need to have items stored somewhere off site.

Clean Up Outside Spaces As Well

Even if you are not an outside type of person that does not mean that other people are the same way.  In fact many people love to be outdoors.  This is the reason why you should clean up and manicure your yard as well.  Staging a home does not necessarily mean just the inside.  The yard should be perfectly manicured.  You can do this by keeping the yard watered and the grass cut.  Keeping the bushes and the trees trimmed as well will help to add to the clean and tidy look of your yard and will win the delight of many.

Keep It Bright

When you are showing your home or even having it photographed you should keep it bright.  This means to leave all of the blinds open and turn on all of the lights.  Buyers like to see bright and cheery not dark and dreary.

Often times selling your home can be a very stressful time of your life.  However if you follow the above staging tips you will find that they will help you to sell your home without you breaking the bank.
